Import customs clearance in Paraguay

Frontanilla Estudio Aduanero handles import clearance before Paraguayan Customs (the DNIT's Customs Directorate) for local and foreign companies, from document review before shipment to the release of the goods.

What it includes

• Review of the commercial invoice, packing list and transport document before the cargo leaves origin.
• Tariff classification (Mercosur NCM) based on the product's technical sheet, plus a duty estimate.
• Prior-permit check and filing through the Importer Single Window (VUI).
• Filing of the declaration in the SOFIA system and support during document review or physical inspection (orange or red channel).
• Follow-up until the goods are released.
• Guidance for first-time importers: active tax ID (RUC) and importer registration in the DNIT's PVAA registry.

Before you buy, not after

In Paraguay every customs operation goes through a licensed customs broker (Customs Code, Law 2422/04, art. 22). It pays to involve the broker before closing the purchase: duties and permits depend on the tariff code, and a well-described invoice prevents delays.

Importing machinery?

Since 2025, investment incentives are governed by Law 7548/2025, which replaced Law 60/90. Order matters: the project is approved first, then the equipment is imported. Companies producing for export can also use the maquila regime.
